Dick Smith Electronics

 System 80

General Information

Dick Smith's first computer release, although re-badged from a foreign manufacturer. Label advises us that it is a "Third Generation Computer"

Notes:

This machine is called a "third generation" computer because it uses Silicon Chips (surprise!) as opposed to transistors (second generation) or tubes (first generation). Believe it or not, it is a TRS-80 Model 1 compatable machine with Microsoft Basic, which is the same as Level II basic in the TRS-80 Model 1. Designed in South Africa, where they are sold as "TRZ-80", sold in the UK as the "Video Genie", sold in the USA as the "PMC-80". Dick Smith sold around 11,000 units.
