Atari 7800

General Information

The successor to the failed Atari 5200, the 7800! This machine brought back compatibility with the 2600 without modification.

Notes:

This machine had the potential to suceed if it was released on time. The Atari 7800 was finished in 1984, but due to the poor timing of the sale of Atari to the Tramiels, the 7800's were shelved, literally. Two years later, the Tramiels took them out of stock and sold them. By that time, Nintendo was king.
